and should have been #6!
I only got about 2 miles yesterday as I started ride #5 when I suddenly hit something in the road that blew my tire and put a dent in my brand new bike's rim. Talk about being more expensive to ride your bike - this puts that argument to rest.
I went back to see what I had hit, and there was nothing but gravel and big chunks of glass. I must have hit the glass and the jolt of the pop made it feel bigger than it was. The gash in my tire was enormous, so my tube patching capabilities would prove fruitless. And with the dent in my rim, I couldn't even be sure it would hold my tire and tube properly.
So, I walked back to the Fire Station - only about 100 yards back up the road - and used their phone to beg my wife to come pick me up (in my rush to leave, I had forgotten my cell phone).
So, instead of today being #6, it's only #5. Oh well. And it was on my oldest of 3 bikes! (Bike #2 is in the bike stand getting a thorough cleaning and tune-up and is currently in pieces)
And finally, the weight tracker. After steadily losing a few pounds over the last couple of weeks, this weekend's double-Christmas party binge put a hurtin' on continue weight loss. Overall penalty: 2.5 lbs!!
12/12/06: 203.5
Doesn't matter, just gotta keep riding!
